Ingredients
- 2cup de All-purpose flour
- 2unit de Eggs
- 1cup de Sugar
- 80ml de Oil
- 12g de Baking powder
- 1cup de Orange juice
- 500ml de Orange juice
- 80g de Sugar
Instructions
In a bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and oil for about 1 minute; no electric mixer is needed.
Dica: No need for an electric mixer, just mix well.
Add all the all-purpose flour to the wet mixture, folding it in gently.
Dica: The less you mix, the softer the cake will be.
Gradually mix in the orange juice, stirring smoothly until you achieve a uniform and smooth batter.
Dica: Mix gently so as not to overdevelop the gluten.
Add the baking powder last, mixing it into the rest of the batter very softly.
Dica: Mix gently.
Grease a 9-inch round pan (or larger, as the cake rises significantly) with pan release spray.
Dica: Use pan release spray or the homemade release spray mentioned in the video.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 35 minutes.
Dica: The oven should have been preheating for about 20 minutes.
For the glaze/syrup, mix one cup of orange juice with 50g to 80g of sugar in a saucepan.
Dica: You don't need much sugar, as the orange is already sweet.
Bring the syrup mixture to a boil over medium heat just until the sugar is completely dissolved; turn off the heat immediately after.
Dica: You don't need to reach a thick syrup consistency, just heat/boil it.
With the cake hot right out of the oven, pour the hot syrup over it so the cake fully absorbs the liquid.
Dica: Using hot cake and hot syrup ensures perfect absorption.
Let the cake rest for a few moments before carefully inverting and serving.
