Ingredients
- 3units de Eggs
- 100g de Butter or Margarine
- 1,5cups de Sugar
- 2cups de All-purpose flour
- 1cup de Milk
- 1tablespoon de Baking powder
- Vanilla extract opcional
- Salt
- 1can de Sweetened condensed milk
- a little de Margarine (for the frosting)
- 100g de Compound chocolate
- Heavy cream
- a few drops de Egg yolk yellow gel food coloring
- 1/2can de Sweetened condensed milk (for extra filling/soft brigadeiro) opcional
Instructions
In a stand mixer, beat the margarine (or butter) with the sugar until a smooth cream forms.
Add the eggs, one at a time, incorporating well after each addition. Alternate adding a little flour between the eggs, if desired.
Alternate adding the remaining all-purpose flour and the milk, mixing until the batter is smooth and has a buttery consistency.
Dica: The batter should look very nice and creamy.
Add the baking powder and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
Dica: Salt is mandatory in any cake.
Pour the batter into an appropriate pan (possibly one with a central tube, for the desired visual effect) and bake in a preheated oven.
Dica: Bake at approximately 400°F (200°C) for about 40 minutes.
For the frosting: Combine one can of sweetened condensed milk, a little margarine, the compound chocolate, and the heavy cream in a saucepan over heat. Cook until it reaches the consistency of a soft, creamy, yet firm brigadeiro.
Dica: The correct consistency is when it starts bubbling and holds its shape on a spoon without becoming too stiff.
Remove the brigadeiro from the heat and let it cool slightly, then add drops of egg yolk yellow gel food coloring, mixing vigorously until the desired sunflower color is achieved.
Dica: Gel food coloring is strong, so add it gradually.
Unmold the cake and use the yellow brigadeiro as a frosting, spreading it so it drips down the sides to simulate sunflower petals.
Dica: Optionally, sprinkle with jimmies/sprinkles over the brigadeiro.
