Ingredients
- 600g de All-purpose flour
- 1/2teaspoon de Salt
- 2tablespoons de Sugar
- 1packet de Dry active yeast
- 3level tablespoons de Margarine
- 300ml de Water
- Cream cheese (or creamy cheese spread)
- Ham (grated or sliced)
- Tomato opcional
- Calabresa sausage
- Onion opcional
- Oregano opcional
- Cheese opcional
- Egg yolk
- Sesame seeds opcional
Instructions
In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and dry active yeast.
Add the margarine to the dry mixture and begin incorporating, gradually adding the water until you reach the perfect dough consistency.
Dica: Add the water slowly to get the right texture.
Knead the dough vigorously for about 5 minutes until it is smooth, elastic, and no longer sticks to the counter, developing the gluten so it becomes fluffy.
Dica: Kneading for 5 minutes is enough for an elastic dough.
Let the dough rest, covered with plastic wrap or a damp cloth, until it doubles in volume.
Dica: Covering the dough prevents it from drying out.
After rising, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and use a rolling pin to roll it out into a rectangular shape, ensuring it is thin.
Dica: Use flour underneath the dough so it slides more easily when rolling.
Spread the cream cheese evenly over the surface of the dough, leaving the edges clear for sealing.
Dica: Use the entire container of cream cheese to avoid waste.
Distribute the ham, calabresa sausage, and optional vegetables, such as tomato and onion, over the layer of cream cheese.
Dica: You can add other fillings like chicken, and this savory snack can be frozen after baking.
Sprinkle oregano (and cheese, if desired) over the filling.
Dica: Cheese is optional, especially if you've used a lot of cream cheese.
Roll the dough tightly from one side, pressing the filling so it is compact, and use the clear edge to seal the roll-up well.
Place the roll-up in a baking pan and use a sharp knife to cut it into individual portions.
Dica: This savory snack does not need a second rest before going into the oven.
Brush the lightly beaten egg yolk over each slice of the roll-up.
Dica: Use only the yolk, not the white.
Finish by sprinkling oregano and, if you have it, sesame seeds over each piece.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are nicely golden brown and cooked through.
Dica: Baking time is about 15 to 20 minutes to ensure it is fully baked.
