A simple recipe to turn raw cane sugar into a nutritious syrup, ideal for replacing white sugar, as it is rich in iron, calcium, and potassium.
Recipe Video
Ingredients
- 300g de raw cane sugar
- 250ml de water
Instructions
Chop the raw cane sugar into small pieces to help it dissolve.
Dica: The smaller the pieces, the easier it will melt.
Place the chopped raw cane sugar and water in a saucepan and let it soak for approximately 2 hours, or until the sugar has softened.
Dica: You can save gas by soaking the raw cane sugar first.
Place the saucepan over heat and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the syrup begins to boil and thicken.
Dica: The ideal consistency is when many bubbles form on the surface.
Turn off the heat when the syrup reaches the desired consistency (neither too thin nor too thick, as it thickens more as it cools).
Dica: If you let it cook too long, the syrup can harden into a chewy candy.
Transfer the syrup to a heat-resistant glass container only after it has warmed slightly, to prevent the glass from cracking due to extreme heat.
Dica: Wait for it to warm up before handling and storing safely.
Let it cool completely to achieve the final syrup consistency for serving with coffee, toast, or flour.
Dica: Store tightly covered in the refrigerator to preserve it longer.
